About Polo Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren, born Ralph Lifshitz on October 14, 1939 in the Bronx, New York, began his career in the fashion industry as a menswear salesman. In 1967, he founded his own company and presented his first tie collection in 1968. In 1972, he launched the iconic polo shirt and expanded his range to include women's clothing. His breakthrough came with the costume design for the film "The Great Gatsby" and the introduction of the polo shirt with the characteristic polo player emblem. In 1971, he opened his first store in Beverly Hills, California, and in 1986 the first flagship store followed in the Rhinelander Mansion in New York City. In 1997, his company went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, Ralph Lauren is a global fashion empire with boutiques around the world.
