About Reebok

Reebok was founded in 1958 by Jeff and Joe Foster in Bolton, England. The name "Reebok" comes from Afrikaans and means "grey rhebok", a type of antelope. Originally a subsidiary of JW Foster & Sons, a company founded in 1895 by their grandfather Joseph William Foster, Reebok specialized in the manufacture of sports shoes. In the 1980s, the brand gained international recognition, particularly with the launch of the Reebok Freestyle, the first aerobics shoe for women. In 1996, Reebok became the official supplier of the Atlanta Olympic Games. In 2005, Adidas acquired Reebok, making the brand part of the German sporting goods manufacturer. In 2021, Reebok was acquired by Authentic Brands Group.
