Model description:
The Papillon is one of Louis Vuitton's most distinctive shapes: a horizontal, cylindrical body with rounded end caps and a continuous zipper along its entire length. The coated Monogram canvas is framed at the curves by Vachetta natural leather piping. Two flat leather handles are attached via brass rings and can be carried in the hand or over the arm. The bag comes with a matching small Trousse in the same Monogram canvas, which is attached via a carabiner and can also be used separately. Each has one main compartment without subdivisions.

Exterior (Canvas/Leather):
The Monogram canvas is closed, with a bold pattern free of stains. There is a noticeable separation of materials at the top edge by the zipper, where the coating has detached from the backing fabric. The Vachetta leather has developed a rich, dark honey patina and shows occasional darker spots.
Edges:
The leather piping on the rounded end caps shows clear signs of wear: the leather is roughened there and lighter in places. The seams are intact throughout, and the shape is fully preserved.
Straps/Carrying straps:
The two leather handles are in medium to good condition and remain fully load-bearing. The surface shows age- and use-related signs of drying in the form of fine craquelure, as well as darker areas of contact. The decorative stitching is intact.
Interior:
The interior shows clear signs of use in the form of material abrasion: the coating of the lining is worn away over large areas, revealing the lighter base material in places. The same applies to the small Trousse. The zipper on both pieces operates smoothly.
Hardware:
The brass-colored hardware – zippers, rings, and carabiners – is fully functional. It is patinated due to age and shows fine surface scratches.
