Model description:
The Papillon is one of Louis Vuitton's great classics and was introduced in the 1960s as one of the Maison's first soft canvas bags. The cylindrical shape made of Monogram canvas is framed by two leather bands that run around the bag, from which the two long handles emerge. A zipper opens the bag along its entire length. This early version includes the small, matching cylindrical Papillon pouch, which attaches to the bag via a carabiner and can also be carried separately. Size 30 is compact and can be carried comfortably by hand or in the crook of the arm.

Exterior (canvas/leather):
The Monogram canvas of the bag and pouch is in very good condition, clean and without tears or stains. The pattern is clear, and the colors are vibrant. The leather bands have developed an even, cognac-colored patina and show slight signs of wear.
Edges:
The leather piping on the rounded side panels shows slight edge wear in places but is completely closed and intact. The wear on the pouch is minimal.
Handles:
The handles are in good condition. The leather has darkened and shows signs of wear in the form of slight abrasion on the edges at the grip areas, but is stable and without tears. The strap of the pouch is also fully intact.
Interior:
The brown lining is clean but shows fine scratches and occasional areas of wear, especially on the bottom and sides, which are typical for this version over the years. Along the zipper, the edge is slightly rubbed in places. The "Louis Vuitton Paris – made in France" stamp is clearly legible.
Hardware:
The brass-colored hardware (zippers, carabiners) is in good condition with age-related loss of shine and occasional fine scratches. Both zippers run smoothly. The zipper pull on the bag's zipper has been replaced.
